Shalane Flanagan
She is 33 years old, an American won the New York marathon. Earlier today, American runner Shalane Flanagan has almost ended the drought when she came in second by a few seconds.
Ultimately it all came down to a run finish line to determine which woman will win. Ultimately it was Edna Kiplagat Kenya, who won the race but it was America's Shalane Flanagan is the revitalization of the country long distance is hoping to win headlines.
Shalane Flanagan was the revival of the American world running after her bronze medal in the 10,000 meters at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. Flanagan second place finish is best for an American woman since 1990. The last time an American woman won the race was in 1977.
It was a long Flanagan first marathon, as it made its transition from a star of the track to marathon distance. If this is how it will start, she is sure will be fun to watch for years to come!
